Muscle Imbalances from
Health Club Workouts
By
Robert Bresloff

Let’s take a look at fitness machines.

Health Clubs usually have one or more machines for every muscle group, making up a circuit that is designed to work the entire body.

Most Health clubs have two each of the machines that work the facilitated muscles (muscles that are commonly stronger in most people) – two pectorals, hamstring and bicep machines.

Why? Because, they are usually the most popular machines in the club and people will complain when they can’t get on them.

Exercisers work most what they can see (which leads me to question why people are constantly pounding away at their poor hammies).

If you continue to work already facilitated (naturally stronger) muscles, they will only get stronger at the expense of the much weaker opposing muscles.

If an excessive muscle imbalance exists, working on the entire circuit of these machines will only make it worse. If you believe that this is the case, and that an imbalance might exist, I recommend seeing a fitness specialist (be sure to ask for philosophy, education, certification and years of experience) or see a licensed physical therapist.

Here are a few things to look for: rounded shoulders (weak back muscles), toes pointing toward two and ten o’clock when you walk (tight piriformis), not being able to lock your knees without great difficulty or discomfort or constant lower back pain (tight hamstrings).

When you do exercise, try working the neglected muscles: mid-back, tri’s, quads and tibialis (front of lower leg—great for preventing shin-splints). Remember; always err on the side of safety. Start with very light weights progressing slowly until you reach the prescribed rep range of your program.

In conclusion, I’m not saying that working out on machines is bad. What I am trying to illustrate is the fact that muscle imbalances can lead to injury and pain and that’s not what anybody wants.

Guide to Fitness
by Robert Bresloff

Some Facts About Aging

Baby Boomer Generation needs to deal with health issues such as osteoporosis, heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, chronic back problems and obesity.

Fitness and health are two completely different issues but one can help the other. Proper fitness can positively affect many common health complaints.

Baby Boomers may not be getting any younger, but I can’t think of one good reason not to meet those coming golden years head on.

More Baby Boomer Fitness Articles by Robert Bresloff

Exercise may or may not be the fountain of youth, but having strong bones, supple, flexible muscles and great balance can make getting older a lot easier to take.

Truly, Baby Boomers are not getting any younger and though being fit doesn’t carry any guarantees, a well balanced fitness program can do wonders for the body and the mind. Attitude is everything. Remember we’re all the same age. Some of us have just been here a little longer.

After many years of lifting weights, coaching sports and personal training (at this writing I am 59 years young and still a full-time personal trainer), I have come to realize that not only do most of these, so called experts that we see on television, in books and magazines not have the answer, I don’t even think they know the question!

The human body has a set of rules that it must live by — they’re called biomechanics. Many of these so-called experts seem to ignore this fact and continually teach methods that could be injurious to joints.

My hope is that The Baby Boomer’s Guide to Fitness will teach you proper exercises performed in a functional manner designed to get results while at the same time protecting your joints, leaving them strong, flexible and ready to meet the challenges of middle or any age.

This exercise system is no quick fix and in no way does it pretend to have all the answers—but it is a well thought out plan that takes physical limitations into consideration.

Why in the world do we need to train in the martial arts style if we don’t practice martial arts? Why do we take classes that make us step up and down on the same riser over and over again when we should be teaching our bodies how to properly climb a flight of stairs? Don’t even get me started on fitness boot camps.

After all these years, I have learned the significance of balance, stability, joint range and how to teach human beings to exercise properly without the pain, soreness and injuries that have come to be expected with working out.

Remember this one, “No Pain No Gain”? It even sounds ridiculous doesn’t it?

The Baby Boomer’s Guide to Fitness will attempt to teach you proper form and the proper progression of exercise done correctly. Some of the theory may contradict popular beliefs but if you think it through, I’m sure that you will agree that it makes perfect, logical sense. Okay baby-boomers, now let’s begin learning the proper exercise methods that will get you in shape to tackle the most difficult sport of all—everyday life—your everyday life.

How many dating methods allow Baby Boomers to meet the person of our dreams for the comfort of your own home?

There are presently 20 million Baby Boomers that are actively using Internet Dating Websites, giving us theoretically an unlimited supply of fresh prospects.

Using Internet Dating Websites is one thing, but using them to their full potential can make a major difference in your results.

Here are ten Internet Dating Tips for a better and more productive Internet Dating experience.

1 – Have Faith in the Process
Internet dating is probably the best, most productive and fun way to meet people. Give it a fair chance and accompany it with a fresh positive perspective. If you are not a computer person, don’t worry. Most Internet Dating Websites are user friendly and extremely easy to use.

2 – Begin Slow and Gain Momentum
Like any new experience, online dating can be overwhelming. Make sure you take it slowly, that way you will not run out of steam so quickly.

3 – Avoiding Negativity Discussing Previous Relationship Troubles
When you talk about past troubles, you come across as a negative person. In addition, your prospect may think that you are not over your past relationship and perhaps not ready to start a new one. Make sure you save this type of discussions for a later, more advanced stage of your relationship.

4 – Writing an Essay that Reflects You
Serious daters find reading your Profile Essay of great benefit since it is the primary piece of information that they have on you. What you say in your essay is amplified greatly so take advantage of it and make it reflect who you really are. Creating a fake image through your essay will greatly disappoint your prospect, once he/she gets to meet you. Be honest and in the long run it will benefit your relationships.

5 – Be Cautious
Utilize the power of anonymity and increased security that is unique to Internet Dating over face to face dating.

6 – Don’t Take Each Internet Contact to Seriously
Not everybody adhere to the same etiquette and rules in Internet Dating. You might find someone that is disrespectful and even offensive. Don’t take every contact too seriously and don’t let this feeling spoil your experience. Just move on to someone else, after all this is an Internet Dating Service.

7 – Take an Occasional Break from Internet Dating
It is always good to take a few breaks from Internet Dating, and come back with a fresh new perspective. Having so many people to choose from can be a little overwhelming at times. Let other people approach you, build your pipe-line and resume your efforts.

8: Re-considering Your Potential Match Dating Profile
Internet Dating is very unique in that sense that it allows you to find people based on your profile objective, such as: eye color, hair color, height, weight, income, etc. If you can’t find exactly your perfect match in this pool of people, it may be time to re-consider your ‘must have’ profile objective list.

9 – Post a Photo Immediately
Most daters do not respond to profiles without a picture. Don’t let opportunities pass you by. If you are serious about online dating, post a picture immediately.

10 – Don’t Waste Your Time on a Bad Dating Match
When you discover any piece of information about a potential match makes you feel uncomfortable, don’t waste your time. Trust your instinct and let go. There are plenty of other potential good matches for you out there. Keep looking and make it fun.

Baby Boomers have made online dating websites like BabyBoomer-Dating.com quite popular for Socializing as well as to find Travel and Activity Partners.
